Attorney Gerald Shargel’s had a sleepless weekend coming up with a defense for client Joe Halderman against allegations that Halderman tried to blackmail David Letterman.
The best he could do? Calling the newly crowned King of Late Night a “master of manipulating audiences.”
Well, yeah. As Roxy Hart said in the film Chicago, “that’s showbiz… kid!”
Shargel claims the charge against his client is “so obviously out of character to the point of not making any sense.”
Making his rouinds on the morning news shows Monday, Shargel claimed that manipulates audiences for a living and that to think he “gave the entire story and there’s nothing more to be said is simply wrong.”
Shargel says he can’t wait to cross-examine Letterman in the court case against Halderman.
