Balloon Boy’s mom, Mayumi Heene has told a Larimer County the whole “our boy is in a runaway balloon” story was all a travesty of a mockery of a sham.
Mrs. Heene told Investigator Robert Heffernan that she and her husband Richard had perpetrated an intentional hoax on law enforcement last week.
She said they both were aware that young Falcon Heene was hiding, and she fessed up to the fact that they created the outrageous story line to increase the family’s marketability as potential reality TV stars.
The hoax had been planned two weeks in advance.
