“Precious” Success: Good News/Bad News

PreciousPosterAn amazing performance at the weekend box office puts “Precious” in a league of its own… bringing in a reported record take of $100,000 per screen, for a total weekend haul of $1.8 million.

But the bad news – at least as far as The Big Cheese is concerned – is that the film is executive produced by Oprah Winfrey, which means we’re not going to hear the end of it until the Oscar nominations come out after the first of the year.

The Rat is happy for Mo’Nique, because we hear she turned in an outstanding performance as Mary in the movie.

But Fauxprah?  Puhleeze.

Let’s not forget her last big-screen production, 1998′s  “Beloved.”  She still owes us for that one.
