That didn’t take long.
Clearly, CNN had been making plans for Lou Dobbs’ departure for some time before his “sudden” announcement Wednesday that he would be leaving at the end of that day’s show.
First thing Thursday morning, the network announced that sing-songy anchor John King will host a new politically-focused show in Lou’s old time slot, beginning in early 2010.
Despite the way it might sound, MSNBC has nothing to worry about, since – in the words of CNN President Jon Klein via a network flack -”The program will reflect what CNN is all about: straight facts from our anchors and the widest range of opinions from across the political spectrum.”
Translation: Zzzzzzzzzzzz
The only remarkable thing about King’s CNN career is his pioneering use of a giant touch-screen TV monitor for his coverage of all things political… it is to CNN what Tim Russert’s little white dry-erase board was to NBC… just a lot more expensive.
Looks like The Big Cheese will be continuing his regular viewership of Chris Matthews’ “Hardball” on MSNBC.
