While James Ray cools his heels in a jailhouse orange ensemble behind bars in Yavapai County, Arizona, investigators are releasing more information from the interviews they’ve conducted in the case. And Ray’s attorneys can’t be very happy about it.
One of the interviews was with Michael Hamilton, an owner of the Angel Valley Retreat where the fatal sweat lodge was held.
Hamilton told detectives that the retreat had hosted as many as 20 sweat lodges and “never has there ever been any hiccup with anyone except with James Ray.”
Uh-oh.
Meanwhile, another local, Shawna Bowen, who was at the sweat lodge to help move the rocks that created heat inside the sweat-lodge tent said she helped a suffering participant when the event ended.
Said Bowen: “I am holding this woman and she had this very blank look on her face, and she started saying, you know, ‘Why did James Ray do this? Why did James Ray do this? Why did I look to James Ray? Why? Why? Why?’ ”
So far, Ray’s attorneys have not commented specifically on these investigative interviews.
