The Death of Deadpan Humor – Drew Carey’s Cranky Sitcom Boss Calls it Quits

Drew Carey’s fictional character from his self-titled sitcom can rest a little easier now.

The woman who played his comically nasty boss, Mrs. Louder, died late last week.

Nan Martin was 82 years old.

She appeared on…

…no fewer than 26 episodes of Carey’s sitcom, but her other TV and film credits are almost too numerous to count.  She was cast  in guest roles on series ranging from “Ben Casey,” to “Bewitched,” to “Baywatch.”

She even played Freddy Krueger’s mother (a former nun who conceived Freddy when she was gang-raped while working in a mental institution) in the third “Nightmare on Elm Street” horror flick.

One of her two sons tells the New York Times that Martin died of complications of emphysema.
