After show biz flack Ronni Chasen was shot to death in the best part of Beverly Hills, the movie capitol of the world went a little crazy with exotic theories.
Was she killed by a hitman?
Could she have been the victim of a street gang initiation?
A rare “road rage” casualty?
Turns out, Chasen’s bloody end was apparently a lot less glamorous than her career as a high profile publicist… just a random killing by a desperate robber with a lengthy rap sheet.
Today (Wednesday) police contradicted earlier reports, announcing that the gun used by Harold Martin Smith to kill himself as cops closed-in on December 1st appears to be the same one that killed Chasen.
A preliminary autopsy report leaked to the media on Monday had indicated otherwise.
Investigators now believe Smith rode a bicycle from his humble apartment in a seedy neighborhood, to the Beverly Hills intersection where Chasen had the misfortune of stopping at exactly the wrong time.
