Outraged Travolta Attorney: Gawker’s Gaydar is Defective

John Travolta gay?  As Jerry Seinfeld’s friend Elaine Benis might say:  “Get!  Out!”

The guys at Gawker posted a steamy (literally steamy) piece about Travolta’s (alleged) patronization of saunas around Los Angeles, and his (alleged) dalliances with other dudes while inside the bathhouses.

Now, Hollywood pit-bull barrister Marty Singer has come out swinging, sending the website a four and a-half page letter demanding that they un-post the story, and promptly apologize for sullying the star’s good name.

The Gawker piece is based on information from the author of a new book about the (alleged) secret sex lives of certain Hollywood actors.  It’s titled “You’ll Never Spa in This Town Again.”

Singer’s letter calls the author’s claims “blatant defamatory lies” from a “patently unreliable source.”

Travolta’s no stranger to gay buzz.

In 2006, one of the tabloids ran a picture of the “Pulp Fiction” star in a same sex lip-lock as he was about to board his private jet in Canada.

The photo was taken while the actor was shooting the musical “Hairspray,” in which he played Edna Turnblad.

Lawyer Singer explained that the guy on the receiving end of Travolta’s attention was the family’s male nanny.

“As a manner of customary greeting and saying farewell, Mr Travolta kisses both women and men whom he considers to be extremely close friends,” said Singer in a statement. “People who are close to Mr Travolta are aware of his customary, non-romantic gesture.”

Five years earlier, the tabloid “Globe,” ran a lengthy story headlined “Naked John Travolta Made a Gay Pass at Me.”

It detailed one man’s account of how a visibly “excited” Travolta (allegedly) hit on him in the steam room, dry sauna and showers of a Southern California fitness club.

Oddly, The Rat can find no record of any denials on Travolta’s part.
